Day 7

Sheet reinforcement in the works

Continued

Paper templates to help ensure proper fitment of the reinforcements

Engine mounts complete

Mounts installed, everything fits as planned

Day 6

Rough cutting ¼” plate on the band saw for the block attachment portion of the mounts

Driver side mount needs a pocket milled in to clear a feature on the block

Completed mounting plates and bushing carriers

1” tube tacked in place to ensure mounts are perfectly aligned

1” tube fully welded and ready for sheet reinforcement

Day5

Rough cutting the raw material to make the bushing carriers

Turning the shells on the lathe for the bushing carriers

Completed bushing carriers and delrin bushings to locate while fabricating mounts

Mounted up and ready for the next step

Day 4

Mounts removed and engine shimmed up on roll-around. Pushed as far back as possible and rotated to 12 degrees from OE 15 degrees

Gearbox mount tacked together for test fitment

Back 1.25” from original location

Gear lever is now right where it should be and centered vertically as well

Engine centered in the frame rails and ready to fabricate the engine mounts

Day 3 - Well, it's in

Gearbox bolted up and dropping in from the top, bellhousing adapter will need some modifications

It's a tight fit from the top, wouldn't go in with OE gearbox but it just clears with the Quaife

It's in!

Gear lever is a little too far forward for my liking

Gearbox is rotated 3 degrees off vertical, time to sleep on this and figure out a solution

Day 2 -Engine accessories removed, harness labeled, gearbox bolted up

Removing all the accessories to make test fitment easier

Engine harness removed and labeled to make motorsports harness build easier

Innovative engine mount 85A durometer in place

Innovative mount left hand side

About to mate the gearbox to AP2 engine, no clutch/flywheel for now

Day 1 -Gearbox arrival and comparison to AP2 oem

Quaife QBE60G 6 speed sequential gearbox with DMRR S2000 bellhousing

Designed for hydraulic release bearing and push type clutch versus pull type OE

AP2 OE gearbox vs Quaife sequential

On the scales the QBE60G came in 2lb lighter than stock

This is merely a test to see if we can fit this image size.

Just about to do very similar gearbox install on S2000 motor, what clutch did you use for push-type release bearing? Thanks, Tom
